The Cruise

We had a stop in Juneau, AK for several hours. I took a whale watching wildlife excursion.

I didn't get many photos from the excursion but did get some of Juneau. It was rainy this day as you'll see from photos below.

This is a shot of a fishing boat as we were travelling along the coast. You can see the circle of the fishing net to the right of the turquoise colored boat.

This is the view of Juneau taken from the Zaandam. The state capitol is up to the left. I didn't get a photo of that but did see it on the coach ride to the whale watching catamaran.

We took a motor coach down to the catamaran and boarded it for the whale watching wildlife excursion. The bus driver took us a little bit around Juneau before we headed out of town. Saw several bald eagles on that drive. Again, it was rainy this day.

We did see humpback whales, sea lions, bald eagles, and deer on the excursion. Even saw a nice, clear view of the humpback as it raised its tail above the water as it was diving down. After they do that, they're down under the water for 10 - 12 minutes.

I brought my camera but couldn't take photos very well. Rain and the moving boat didn't fit well with my photographic capabilities.

Those are sea lions at the base of the buoy. My camera seemed to focus on the rain drops on the window vs. the buoy itself. I'll learn how to use it properly one of these days.

Here's my ship, the Zaandam docked in Juneau. To the right is the famous Red Dog Saloon.
