Denali

This day we boarded the McKinley Explorer (luxury train) and headed south to Denali. On the train, I enjoyed lunch with Jerrie in a fancy dining car and watched many beautiful sites from the train windows and glass roof. More on the McKinley Explorer in later pages.

After we reached Denali, we checked into the McKinley Chalets then headed on a 7 hour tour of Denali National Park. There, we took a bus and headed into the park. Denali National Park is the size of Massachusetts. Alaska is twice as large as Texas. On our tour, we saw grizzles (17 of them - might have been a record for our tour guide), moose, caribou, and sheep.

Here're three grizzlies. It's a momma and two cubs.

Here's a dall sheep. They are mostly seen as white specs but we got the chance to see one relatively up close.

Some more wildlife we saw on this tour.

Caribou

Moose

While seeing the wildlife was exciting, the views of mountains and scenery in Denali National Park were just as spectacular. See some examples below, remembering photos do not do it justice.

This one leaves me speechless.

The following morning I got up early and headed on a horseback ride. Click the next button below to see me on horseback..
