Funny story -
Since I was travelling alone, I was able to sit in the front seat of the motor coach next to Suzie, our Tour Director, for most of the trip, while other tourist had to change their seats each day. Several people had asked me if I was 'in training' or Suzie's assistant.
Suzie got such a kick out of that she made me a pin and titled it 'The Assistant'. From then on I wore two pins: one with my real name and 'The Assistant' one.
Ritka's Roadhouse is the main attraction in the Delta State Historical Site.
This roadhouse, owned by Ritka Wallen, served as an important stop for travelers, traders, and the military in the early 1900's. There were many artifacts from that era in this park. I wish we had had more time visiting this site.
That's one of the downsides of touring as a group. You're on a time schedule and don't always get to spend the time you want at a particular attraction.
I didn't get any photos here but please do check the link above.
There were some reindeer in a pen outside. Didn't get photos worth sharing of those.
* Ritka's Roadhouse
* Northpole
* Alaskan Salmon Bake
As I took this photo, I had one foot in Canada, the other in the United States.
Here are my travel companions.
Here's Suzie, Tour Director and John, Bus Tour Guide.
We travelled on the Alaska Highway and viewed many sites of the interior of Alaska. We had lunch in Tok (which was bigger than Beaver Creek), stopped at Ritka's Roadhouse, and headed to Northpole, AK.
Our next stop was Northpole, AK which was basically a big store full of Christmas ornaments.
After we checked into the hotel in Fairbanks, Jeff, Becky, and I headed to the Alaska Salmon Bake in Pioneer Park. They offered salmon, cod, and halibut (which I had a piece of each) along with other side dishes. After we ate, we checked out an old car display in the park.
The entrance to the park was through a tunnel.
Here're Becky and Jeff, new friends I made on this trip.
