The next day featured the following:

* Panning for gold
* Alaska Pipeline
* Riverboat Discovery
* Chena Indian Village

First stop was Gold Dredge No 8. Here we toured the historic Gold Dredge facility, learned of its operation and actually panned for gold. It was one of the highlights of the trip for me.

Here's me pointing out little gold pieces in my pan. I ended up getting $7.95 worth of gold. I bought a little bezel to put the pieces in and will eventually buy a chain so I can wear it on a necklace.

Here's Jerrie doing the same thing. We did not pan directly into a river but used a packet of 'dirt' from the remains of the operational Gold Dredge in established tubs of water as shown in this photo.

I would go back in a heartbeat to do this again.

Next was a stop at a section of the Trans Alaska Pipeline. Turns out there are actually three lines. I'm not quite sure which one I saw. The line runs underground as well as above the ground. It transports crude oil from oil fields on Alaska's north slope to the Port of Valdez.
